Questions & answers.

How do you calculate the match score?
We read each product’s INCI, compare it to your profile (type, porosity, scalp, damage) and to your priority and secondary goals. We penalise ingredients that you prefer to avoid. The scientific and chemoinformatic algorithms of Cosmic are able to quickly analyse all ingredients in every product, their concentrations, their interactions and their function. The final result is a 0–100 number and a readable match at a glance. If you add to your profile the products that worked for you, and those that didn't, the match will be even more accurate.
Can brands buy a higher match?
No. The match score depends only on your profile and the product’s composition. Sponsorships, where present, are always clearly indicated and cannot ever influence the match score.
Do I need an account?
Yes: Cosmic is your personal assistant, which knows your goals and needs, so it needs a profile. Signing up and building the profile take a few minutes, and you can edit everything anytime from Profile → Hair.
How much does it cost?
Cosmic is available with a free and Premium tier. Some advanced features are only available with a Premium subscription. If you buy a product through the links in the app, we may earn a small commission from the retailer. This commission cannot ever influence our recommendations or match scores.
Where do I buy the products?
Every product card compares prices across retailers and takes you to the site where you can buy at the best price. When there’s an active offer, we flag it.
Does it work for every hair type?
Yes. The match score looks at type, porosity, damage and goals. If you add to your profile the products that worked for you, and those that didn't, the match will be even more accurate: Cosmic will analyse the similarity of the chemical composition of all products in the catalogue with those you like and don't like, and adjust the match accordingly.
Can I find a similar product to one I already like?
Yes! Thanks to the InciSense technology, Cosmic is able to quickly compare the chemical composition of all products. This allows you to discover new products that are chemically similar to those you already know or that you scan from the app!
